Why Is There No Recovery Drive on My New Hard Drive After I Finished Installing Everything?

by Data Recovery Hard Drive on January 26, 2012

so i ran out of space on the tiny 80 gig hard drive that was in my laptop so i decided it was time to upgrade to something bigger. So i got a new seagate 500 gig hard drive and put it in, then installed windows again but i noticed after installing a couple drivers that there is no recovery drive. why isn't there one? I am pretty sure i need one but dont know how to get one there! any help would be nice!

Installing Windows from any media does Not create or install a recovery partition. Those partitions are only created and prepared by the computer manufacturer.

As long as you have all of the software and drivers you need, the recovery partition is just a waste of hard drive space.

There is no recovery partition on your new drive because you didn’t make one.

If you have a Windows disc, then you don’t really *need* one. Save your drivers to another disc and you should be okay if you need to reinstall in the future.

Good luck.
